About Author

Warren Roaf

Warren Roaf is a storyteller, educator, and survivor whose voice speaks directly to the heart.
With deep honesty and compassion, he shares his lifelong journey through depression, offering others a path through darkness toward light, strength, and self-discovery.
A proud Vermonter, Warren lives in Bennington with his wife of over four decades, Carol Ann.
Together, they’ve built a life rooted in love, family, and community, raising two sons and embracing the joys of grandparenthood.
After a successful career in education, as a beloved social studies teacher and later a middle school principal, Warren retired and pursued a dream job working as a tour guide at Boston’s iconic Fenway Park.
His passion for history and baseball remains a central thread in his personal life and writing.
Warren holds a degree in History with a minor in Education from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
He later earned a master’s degree from St. Joseph’s College, achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA.
But a creative writing course at the Clark Art Museum first awakened his love of storytelling, a skill he now uses to help others find comfort, connection, and courage.
His books, including Depression Does Not Have to Win and its sequel, The Armor Against Depression, combine memoir, poetry, and practical reflection to deliver hope to those struggling with mental illness.
Warren’s writing is rooted not in theory but in lived experience, an open hand extended to anyone who feels unseen or unheard.
Through his work, Warren Roaf continues to remind us that while depression may be relentless, it is not unbeatable and that with honesty, faith, and support, healing is always within reach.
